ST DENNIS NEEDS INDEPENDENT LEGAL ADVICE FOR INCINERATOR APPEAL12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sat 12th Sep 2009
Lib Dem campaigner and Parliamentary candidate Steve Gilbert has welcomed the news that Cornwall Council intends to be "robust" in the defence of the original decision to reject the incinerator planned for St Dennis and has called on the Council to make funds available so that local people can employ their own legal representative. Steve Gilbert said, "I've written to the Council asking for them to make funds available for the community in St Dennis to employ their own legal representative." He added, "For too long now it has been a David and Goliath battle with people in St Dennis going up against the legal and financial might of SITA." "Now we know that the issue is likely to be determined on legal and technical grounds out of the hands of Councillors in Cornwall and I'm asking the Council to help level the playing field and provide some funds for St Dennis to have its own independent legal representation."
