SAVE ELECTION NIGHT!

Save Election Night

Steve Gilbert has joined the campaign to save election night amid speculation that the count may be moved from the Thursday night to the Friday.

"Election day is a long and gruelling experience for those involved with candidates and party workers up from around 3am and polling stations manned by Council workers from 7am until 10pm with counting on the night it can be a 24-hour day. But having the count immediately helps to bring the process alive for people watching and listening-in. My personal preference would be to keep the count on polling day - but if Cornwall Council does decides to count on the Friday I hope they'll issue all the candidates with some sleeping pills for Thursday night!"
