Steve Gilbert, the Lib Dem Prospective MP for Newquay, has welcomed the news that Bar Help has withdrawn its application to start a new lap dancing club in the town.

Steve Gilbert, who wrote to the Police to voice his objections to the application and has been working with local residents to fight the spread of lap-dancing clubs in Newquay, said: "This is a real victory for people power and is to be welcomed. Perhaps the club owners are now beginning to listen to local residents who have had enough of the night time economy taking over the town."
