FOWEY MAYOR TO STAND FOR CORNWALL COUNCIL

Anne Boosey, the current Mayor of Fowey, is set to stand for Cornwall Council as a Liberal Democrat.

Mrs Boosey, until recently an independent councillor, has joined the Liberal Democrats to challenge for a seat on the new authority.

Anne Boosey said: "I've been impressed with the way that Steve Gilbert has always put local people ahead of party politics. He's not been afraid to speak out against his party when he's needed to. Over the many years that I have been involved in local politics, I've always put the interests of the people I represent first, and that is what I will continue to do."

Steve Gilbert said: "It's great to have Anne join the team. She's a formidable campaigner and will be a strong voice for Fowey on the new Cornwall Council."
