Speaking six-weeks after a Channel 4 documentary revealed that Newquay lap-dancing club Halos was breaching its licensing conditions, Stephen Gilbert, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Newquay, has said that the "responsible authorities must act".

The Dispatches documentary was broadcast on Channel 4 on October 6 and showed so-called 'Gentleman's Club' Halos, based on the town's main street, to be breaking its licensing conditions.

Stephen Gilbert said: "It has now been six weeks since the documentary revealed that Halos were breaking the rules and it's time for the responsible authorities to take action."

Since the documentary was broadcast Mr Gilbert has contacted both the police and Restormel Borough Council asking them to investigate and to take action.

Stephen Gilbert added: "It should not be up to residents in Newquay to have to continue to push local authorities into action. The evidence was there for the whole country to see and its time that the responsible authorities behaved responsibly and took action."
