Rubbish strewn across Newquay bus station

Stephen Gilbert, the new Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate for Newquay, is calling on town bosses to get their act together and keep the town clean over the summer.

As good weather finally hits the Cornish resort, Stephen Gilbert saw for himself the rubbish in the street that residents have been complaining about.

Stephen said: "I've been the Lib Dem candidate for Newquay for only four weeks now but the issue I hear over and over again from residents is 'sort out our rubbish'. And they've got a good point."

"As summer finally arrives in Cornwall what do visitors see when they get off at the bus station? It's a mixture of graffiti, broken bins and rubbish strewn across the street. It's simply not good enough."

Mounds of rubbish throughout the town are blighting Newquay this season and Stephen is calling for the mess to be sorted. Stephen Gilbert added:

"It's the beginning of August and thousands of people are arriving to enjoy Newquay - but in some parts of town we have piles of uncollected rubbish.

"Newquay is one of the country's premier resorts and I'm asking town bosses to work together to keep the streets clean."
