GILBERT CALLS FOR FREEDOM OF INFORMATION9.52.24am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 23rd May 2007
Stephen Gilbert has joined the LibDem campaign to ensure Parliament is covered by Freedom of Information laws. On Friday 18th May, Conservative and Labour MPs voted to exempt Parliament from Freedom of Information laws, creating one law for Parliament and one law for everyone else. Stephen Gilbert said: "This Bill is a disgrace, there should not be one law for MPs and another for everyone else. I'm supporting the campaign to get the Bill thrown out, and would encourage other people to do so." The LibDems have launched a national petition against the Bill, people can sign-up to it on-line at www.libdems.org.uk
